Is it supposed to hurt when you cleanse your chakras?

Author: admin  /  Category: Music for Meditation

This past Christmas, I got a Chakra crystal cleansing kit as a gift. I really haven’t experimented with Chakras or know a whole lot about them. In this kit, there was 7 crystals, one for each of the corresponding Chakras. The little booklet that came with the kit explained that basically you meditate with the crystals on the chakra centers and somehow you cleanse yourself. So I put on some meditative music and put the crystals on myself. After about 10 mins, the amethyst I placed on my forehead began to hurt really bad, and I decided to take it off. My headache went away instantly, but as soon as I placed the amethyst back on, the headache reappeared. I wanted to know if this is something wrong with this particular chakra or if there is an issue with the stone itself? Is there a way to fix it? Has anyone ever had this happen (or something like it) to them? And if anyone knows of a good website or book to reference for learning more about chakras, please let me know. Thanks!

Chakras don’t exist.

The sacred syllable OM is the primordial sound, the divine vibration of love within and without that permeates the whole Universe. For eons yogis have repeated and meditated on Om to experience the divine and attain the highest levels of human consciousness.

Chanting Om, Meditation on the 7 Chakras, is a very special recording. The sacred syllable Om is chanted in various notes, going up the scale. Each note corresponds to one of the 7 chakras or energy centers in the body. As the chakras are purified and awakened to their full potential through meditation and other spiritual practices, we experience vibrancy, health, happiness, peace and we ultimately merge into our true divine nature.

You can chant along with the recording or simply play it during meditation. When chanting or listening to Om the mind settles and calms down in a very natural way.

The recording also includes two Savasana Sound Bath tracks, consisting of various healing sounds such as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Rain Sticks, Vocals, and Hang Drum, played by the very talented Ann Malone. These tracks are perfect to play at the end of a yoga practice or to simply listen to in order to experience deep relaxation.

Leonard Cohen – “Come Healing” (Music Video w/ Lyrics)

Author: admin  /  Category: Music for Meditation

Unofficial Music Video – Song from Cohen’s new album “Old Ideas” (2012)

Lyrics:

O gather up the brokenness
And bring it to me now
The fragrance of those promises
You never dared to vow

The splinters that you carry
The cross you left behind
Come healing of the body
Come healing of the mind

And let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb

Behold the gates of mercy
In arbitrary space
And none of us deserving
The cruelty or the grace

O solitude of longing
Where love has been confined
Come healing of the body
Come healing of the mind

O see the darkness yielding
That tore the light apart
Come healing of the reason
Come healing of the heart

O troubled dust concealing
An undivided love
The Heart beneath is teaching
To the broken Heart above

O let the heavens falter
And let the earth proclaim:
Come healing of the Altar
Come healing of the Name

O longing of the branches
To lift the little bud
O longing of the arteries
To purify the blood

And let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb

O let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb

Music Career (question for Mamianka)?

Author: admin  /  Category: Relaxation Music

Mamianka,

I would like to thank you again for your thoughtful response to my last question. I would just like to ask you a few more questions.

Since your response, I tried to fathom *giving up* the piano, and it was something that I just could not do. After shedding many a tear, and practicing harder (it’s a stress relief), I did some serious soul searching. I thought about the thousands of graduates from music school and only about fifty (if that) seriously concertizing pianists, and how much of and absolute blood bath it would be to make it there. The only issue that I’m running into is how far music is engrained in me. I’m not trying to do it for the money (although enough to live comfortably would be very nice), I want do pursue music because I *can’t* not pursue music. Seeing the bozos on youtube and on YA talking about Juilliard and Curtis without a CLUE of how difficult the audition requirements are anger me because I know how hard that I’ve worked without even considering top music schools because I didn’t give myself enough credit. As I said before, deadlines have passed, and I’m stuck with a state school. Although it’s a one of the better state programs with professors who got their degrees from top schools and pretty good pianos, I know that it’s no Oberlin of Peabody. I just want to know is there ANYTHING that I can do in music that won’t have me begging for change in the middle of NYC? Would I have to wait until next year to apply to a top school or just go on the state school? I now know that it’s almost impossible to trade up.

I’m sorry that I probably sound so scatter brained right now. I’m just trying to figure out what to do with my life now. I *thought* I had a good plan, but now I feel like my life ist falling apart before my eyes. I just don’t want to end up being a depressed engineer with money. I just wished I would have encountered your advice last year.

Donald.

I never told you to quit. I told you that any hopes of a concert career are exceedingly slim, and if you attend the schools you chose – even slimmer. By all means, get it out of your system if you want to, and audition for BIG schools – if you make it, then you need to decide if you can afford it, WANT it, and if you want to risk having huge debts and NO job prospects. The fall-back used to be Music Ed – it worked for four of us in this family, we had the great luxury of being able to perform where and when we wished, with whatever challenging literature we chose – because we had a steady paycheck/pension, etc. every week, and great insurance and benefits. Those days are gone for today’s teachers – programs are being cut all over. My own playing opportunities have never been this bad in 40 years, and we have fewer private students than ever before. How could I encourage a student to enter this field now – when things are REALLY worse?

You will find opportunities to study and play, wherever you are. Seek our churches, people than wish to play chamber music, choral groups and various soloists ( especially singers) who need accompaniment – you can always fill the musical area of your life. You just cannot count on making a LIVING at it.

YA is full of idiot kids who think that is they learn to guitar in the bedroom, from watching YouTube videos, and sing into their mirror while holding a hairbrush as a mike, that they will "get into JOOLEEYARD – ‘cuz it is like my passion, ya know???" You are far, far better educated and prepared than they are – and more realistic, too – but you need to find a way to make a living – so that you can then enjoy your LIFE. Some of the finest players I know are amateurs in the best sense of the word – a biologist, librarian, special-ed teacher, operating room nurse, dietitian – they all CHOSE something that they are good at, so they could make a good living with no worries – and then make all the music they want. When asked – seriously – "what are you doing on your vacation? You have 3 weeks saved up!" one of of them says "I am singing in an opera company in Italy – and you?" The biology prof takes cruises where all the guests are accomplished musicians, and they play rotating chamber music ensembles – really. There is MUCH you can do, and you have much to offer – just PLEASE do not think of this now as a career choice – a lifelong passion, yes – just not a career.

Why does slow music calm you and fast energize you?

Author: admin  /  Category: Calming Meditating Music

I love science and music and so many other things. I’d like to know the science between music and states of mind/moods.

I’m not sure myself, but I strongly recommend you get a hold of Daniel Levitin’s book This Is Your Brain On Music. It explains music from a neuroscience perspective. Very cool :)

Christianity: Do we worship demons while watching anime?

Author: admin  /  Category: Music for Meditation

Okay, here’s the story:
For years I’ve been a fan of Japanese Anime, and just love a good action scene of martial arts being displayed.
In Japanese Anime the characters usually (or often) draw their power from beast like creatures like foxes, wolves, serpents, snakes, dragons, lions and so on,or from what they call their own ‘life force’.
A serpent, snake, dragon, lion and wolves are Biblical representations of demons and satan.
Knowing that, I can understand many anime characters are demonically influenced (and probably go to hell being possessed, while not receiving christ), but I couldn’t care less because they are but anime(meaning not real), and I’m far more interested in the good I can get out of the movie.

So you could conclude that the characters in Japanese Anime, often are inspired by demonic power, often bringing some form of destruction, more than healing, through either physical powers, or spiritual powers under the name of ‘chakra’, ‘zen’, ‘aura’, or just ‘spiritual energy’, or so……

The flip coin is, that I’m also a devout christian, trying to follow Jesus in a pretty liberal way, meaning trying to be free, and not fall into the pattern of rules and regulations.

A couple of days ago I saw a presentation, and in the end the guy said "In the end days there will be those who will be ‘worshippers’ of demons and devils, and will not want to turn away from doing so." …or something (paraphrased).

So, I started to think, though I may be wrong somewhere:

1- What is worshiping devils?
Isn’t it admiring them? Isn’t worship like admiration, adoration, glorification and exaltation? Not only verbally, but also in the heart agreeing of their superiority and splendor?

So I noticed of myself that in anime, exactly those scenes where the character starts to have ‘determination’ (is what they call it), it’s able to draw the demonic power, and gain superhuman strength. (and I’m not only talking about DragonBallZ here, but many other anime out there, like Saint Seya, Fist of the North Star (Aka Hokuto no ken), especially Bleach, Naruto, Hunter X Hunter, Wolfs Rain, or even the scene’s of Initial D, where the driver’s been seen with an ‘aura’.

Exactly those scenes I like or get thrilled by them, as I watch them, because they often go together with some intense special effects or music, to accentuate the scene, meant to be breath taking and exhilarating!

Could this also be the worshiping of demons like the guy mentioned, if it is obvious they get their strength from demons?

I am fully aware of Matthew 15:11: "not that what comes INTO a man defiles him, but what goes OUT of a man can"(paraphrased)!
In other words: there’s nothing wrong with viewing the anime, there might be with the part of worshiping (giving admiration, exaltation (often goes with the thought "I wished I could be like that"),and glorification (eg: "Did you see last episode? It was awesome the way that XXXX (eg: Naruto or Ichigo/Bleach) killed that monk!") of some of it’s scenes, or even there might be an issue when not physically doing those things, but in one’s heart admire them (as Matt 5:28 says: "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.", meaning that one can sin, even if it’s only in the heart, and does not appear to come to the surface).

So could it be that in the process of watching Anime, man might get tempted to glorify a demonic power (even in his heart)?
Certainly a valid point of concern, because if so,I would have been worshiping devils for over 17 years now(about the time I started watching a lot of Japanese Anime)!

As I was pondering on this question, another thing took place.
I was playing a game called "phantasy star", and it plays back in the far future, where men has developed a tool called a "photon generator" (or something).
A ‘Photon generator’ is seen as a purely (far futuristic) scientific tool, that can emit photons, and thus give the user of it additional energy that can be released as ‘fire’, ‘ice’, ‘earth’, ‘light’, ‘gravity’, or ‘dark matter’.

The ‘photon charger’ (or whatever they might call it in phantasy star) is in other words, a purely scientific device, that one triggers on or of much like one would trigger a gun or a microwave, and can not be seen as demonically, but operates within the physical laws it supposed to operate into (given that it could exist), and can be seen as a tool.

But the end result is about the same:
The main character get attacked by evil powers (creatures or humans) he can not overcome with his own power, and calls on either his demon, or the power of his scientific photon device.

Since there is no difference between the characters save the one character calls for photon power, and the other calls for demonic aura, and yet I get the same thrill with seeing both men being bestowed with superhuman strength, my question would be:
- Is it bad to see anime (Demonically p
last sentence got cut off, and is:
- Is it bad to see anime (Demonically powered), knowing that it would be ok to see if the demonic power would be replaced by a device like a photon charger (or something)?
None really seemed to grasp the core question. Many explain things I don’t seem to ask in my question.

I’ll repeat it here again:
"could it be that in the process of watching Anime, man might get tempted to glorify a demonic power (even in his heart)?"; that’s my question. Not whatever you would do instead of watching anime,or try to justify anime, that is besides the point.
Thank you.

It’s a work of imagination.

Kundalini-First Chakra – Muladhara मूलाधार Root Chakra – Music Meditation

Author: admin  /  Category: Relaxation Music

The First Chakra:
The Muladhara is one of the seven Primary Chakras, and is associated with the element: Earth,
representing the densest grade of manifestation. In the Kundalini-yoga system of Shaktism, the Muladhara
Center is described as having four petals, corresponding to the psychological states of greatest joy, natural pleasure,
delight in controlling passions, and blissfulness in concentration. All these qualities correspond to the bliss of
realizing the Divine in the physical body.

The highest and most complete forms of spirituality do not reject the body, but see it as the
vehicle for the transmutation of the body and the spirit together.

It is, according to Shakta Tantric doctrine, the seat of Kundalini,
the latent cosmic energy or shakti that resides in every living being.

When this latent power is activated through Hatha Yoga practicises (pranayama, purification of the nadis, etc),
it rises through each of the rear or spinal chakras, and up through the top of the head, to the Sahasrara or
“Thousand Petalled Lotus” located above the crown.

There it unites with its opposite polarity, the Paramashiva or Supreme Godhead Consciousness,
and the yogi attains total Liberation from phenomenal reality.

Colours associated with this chakra are red, yellow, and golden.
It could be considered the bliss center for physical body.

Alternative names

* Tantra: Adhara, Brahma Padma, Bhumi Chakra, Chaturdala, Chatuhpatra, Muladhara, Mooladhara, Mula Chakra, Mula Padma
* Vedas (late Upanishads): Adhara, Brahma, Muladhara, Mulakanda
* Puranic: Adhara, Muladhara
Element: Earth
Color: Red
Verb: I have
Attributes: Survival, grounding, solidity, the body

The first chakra is found at the base of the spine, the point you are sitting on right now. Its name, Muladhara, means “root,” and the paths of energy in this chakra extend downward like a root through the legs and feet to contact the solid Earth below.

Its color is a deep red, and its symbol is a lotus of four petals within which is a downward-pointing triangle, symbolizing the root energy.

Muladhara (Sanskrit: मूलाधार, Mūlādhāra), meaning “root place” is the first of the main seven chakras
