Is listening to classical music calming?
Author: admin / Category: Calming Meditating MusicWhat research has shown that classical music can be calming or reduce stress? Is there any research to show that classical music can help one study?
This is called the Mozart effect.
It helps me, helps my children learn more(I really believe this). Check the link below.

Very much so,
Music to sooth the savage beast
Did you know that men who are scheduled to die on Death Row, are not allowed music the last 24 hours because music brings out such strong emotions?

Yes if you find the time and patience to listen to them. And if you are tired or stressed while studying, it’s not good, studying-wise because your brain can’t process as fast and/or as good when you’re calm or relatively energized. I listen to classical music when I want it to be quiet, and it’s perfectly appropriate when you’re studying in a quiet room with classical music.

There have been various studies that have claimed the following about classical music:
1 it is good for relaxation
2 it can help your brain power
I have read about this, and agree – it wouldn’t work on every one because you’ve got to like classical music a little to start with.
The theory behind both is good for relaxation and hypothesises that the audio frequency of the music triggers parts of your brain allowing you to relax and/or concentrate more (the latter especially applicable to listening to Mozart)
compared to some of the crap that passes for popular music these days i don’t doubt it, the same could be said for some jazz music as well…. because you can let it stay on a low volume in the background and is good as background noise even if your not concentrating on it.

I fall asleep every time I hear it. I’d call that boring, but I guess you might call it calming.

When I am trying to concentrate sometimes I love to listen to Violins and Piano music! I don’t know why but it does help! I don’t know if it is too that I played the Violin for 5 years and still playing the piano but the sound is just to caliming that it does help to keep me concentrated, as far as any reasearch I heard somewhere that with some people the music puts them in a state of mind that keeps them well into what they are trying to do, it also helps stimulate!
