The First Chakra:
The Muladhara is one of the seven Primary Chakras, and is associated with the element: Earth,
representing the densest grade of manifestation. In the Kundalini-yoga system of Shaktism, the Muladhara
Center is described as having four petals, corresponding to the psychological states of greatest joy, natural pleasure,
delight in controlling passions, and blissfulness in concentration. All these qualities correspond to the bliss of
realizing the Divine in the physical body.

The highest and most complete forms of spirituality do not reject the body, but see it as the
vehicle for the transmutation of the body and the spirit together.

It is, according to Shakta Tantric doctrine, the seat of Kundalini,
the latent cosmic energy or shakti that resides in every living being.

When this latent power is activated through Hatha Yoga practicises (pranayama, purification of the nadis, etc),
it rises through each of the rear or spinal chakras, and up through the top of the head, to the Sahasrara or
“Thousand Petalled Lotus” located above the crown.

There it unites with its opposite polarity, the Paramashiva or Supreme Godhead Consciousness,
and the yogi attains total Liberation from phenomenal reality.

Colours associated with this chakra are red, yellow, and golden.
It could be considered the bliss center for physical body.

The first chakra is found at the base of the spine, the point you are sitting on right now. Its name, Muladhara, means “root,” and the paths of energy in this chakra extend downward like a root through the legs and feet to contact the solid Earth below.

Its color is a deep red, and its symbol is a lotus of four petals within which is a downward-pointing triangle, symbolizing the root energy.

The sacred syllable OM is the primordial sound, the divine vibration of love within and without that permeates the whole Universe. For eons yogis have repeated and meditated on Om to experience the divine and attain the highest levels of human consciousness.

Chanting Om, Meditation on the 7 Chakras, is a very special recording. The sacred syllable Om is chanted in various notes, going up the scale. Each note corresponds to one of the 7 chakras or energy centers in the body. As the chakras are purified and awakened to their full potential through meditation and other spiritual practices, we experience vibrancy, health, happiness, peace and we ultimately merge into our true divine nature.

You can chant along with the recording or simply play it during meditation. When chanting or listening to Om the mind settles and calms down in a very natural way.

This version of Chanting OM, features the vocal improvisations of Ann Malone and Sarah Warwick, two beautiful yoginis who, along with a large group of practitioners, contributed to this project with an abundance of love.

The recording also includes two Savasana Sound Bath tracks, consisting of various healing sounds such as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Rain Sticks, Vocals, and Hang Drum, played by the very talented Ann Malone. Relaxing Music Therapy For Stress Relief
Relaxing music therapy is a very potent phenomenon.
Sounds can soothe you, fire your imagination, bring you to the heights of ecstasy or bring you down to the depths of your soul.

Music is known to relax and to help in stress relief. In the right manner, music can bring lightness into a serious situation.
Relaxing music therapy can heal, soothe and bring calm tot an agitated mind.
Defining “relaxing music” seems a matter of personal choice. Some people find the serene sounds of the waterfall and chirping birds relaxing while others relax with their favorite hard rock.

How Does It Work?

The therapeutic effect of relaxing sounds seems to have a scientific definition of its own.
When the human brain is relaxed it produces more alpha brain waves.
When a person is stressed out, his brain produces more beta and theta waves. Beta and theta waves are faster changing brain waves than alpha waves.
Within the fight-or-flee logic of a sudden stressful situation, the human brain processes seem to speed up to act faster. This can be helpful in short, specific moments, but it is counter productive when it becomes a chronically state of being.
A relaxing tune can help with its sounds typically rich in frequencies that are similar to our alpha type brain waves.
The mind is always open to suggestions and thus when a person is agitated or tensed, relaxing sounds, rich in alpha like frequencies, can actually bring brain frequencies down from theta to beta to eventually alpha brain waves, changing the overall mood of the listener during this process.
It’s a scientific fact: A relaxing melody can help a person to get at ease. When a person listens to a piece of music that he finds relaxing, he can focus on that, forgetting his agitation and tension. His/her breathing slows down a well as the heart rate and blood pressure.
